-DiskState-

Duplicate Files

DiskState can look for duplicate files across your system. This feature is one of DiskState's biggest strengths.

A key issue when looking for duplicate files in DiskState, is not it does not rely on matching file names or time stamps. DiskState addresses the problem that duplicate files can have different names, and they can even have different time stamps.

DiskState's duplicate finder uses a 128-bit MD5 technology to ensure that it is indeed suggesting duplicate files. It traverses through all the potential duplicate files, creates a signature for all the files and compares them later on.

CRC-32 is also available. This is a faster but less accurate way to create a signature of a data block.
