Viewing a Report

You can open the Reports from the Volume Analysis window.

  1. Select the type of report you would like to generate. By default, you can choose from Largest Files, Oldest Files, Zip Files, Rar Files, Ace Files, Picture Files, System Files, Date and File Attributes and Long Paths > 240 chars. Custom reports, if any are present, are below the dashed line.
  2. Click "Generate" to the right.
  3. The report appears in the file listing in the right side of the window.
  4. Narrow your result by clicking on "Filter".

The user can then print the report, change sort order by clicking on the columns on top, export the file list to clipboard or to file, and find and view files in the list.

Click the right mouse button to open a context menu for the selected file. Here you can rename the file, move it and copy the full path to the clipboard.

Rar and Ace Reports

DiskState will include archive files of both these two formats that are spanned over multiple files.

Picture Reports

DiskState will include pictures in the report.

System Reports

DiskState include system files like DLLs in the report.

Date and File Attributes Report

This report is useful to 1) find files created, modified or accessed within a given time interval using timestamps and 2) spot files in this interval with specified file attributes.

Note: If you want to find all hidden files regardless of timestamps, uncheck all the time checkboxes and check the "Hidden" checkbox.

Applicability would typically be to find really old files or changed files since yesterday.

Long Paths > 240 chars

DiskState will include paths that are of 240 characters or more.

Want to make a report on custom path length?

By default, DiskState shows a report of paths that are longer than 240 characters. You can adjust this number by invoking the context menu here. From the context menu, select "Set Maximum Path Limit".
