-DiskState-

Getting Started

The "State Captures" window can be opened by clicking the "Compare" button of the main window (or use the context menu by right clicking in the main window).

Everything here resolves around projects. The project files are initially stored in the same folder as the DiskState application itself. Normally, this would be C:\Program Files\DiskState. You can change this by clicking on the small folder icon in the right part of this window.

From this window, you can add, compare and remove projects.

  1. Click on the "Add Project".
  2. Use the browse button to select an existing folder in your system or manually edit the path box in the newly presented window. In an example, we typically select C:\Documents.
  3. You can edit the internal project name, but this is not necessary.
  4. If you would like DiskState to traverse all the folders in the tree structure, enable "Recursive folders". This is default on (enabled).
  5. To be able to detect if other properties of a file has changed, be sure to enable "Include file attributes in state". I.e. the READ-ONLY attribute was recently added to a document in a folder. This option enabled detects such changes as well.
  6. Click on the "Add" button to add the new project.
  7. If you would like DiskState to load an initial basis for comparison, answer "Yes" in the popping dialog about this.
  8. You can then click "Compare" to detect changes, or "Remove Project" as you see fit.
