DiskState for Android Privacy Policy

DiskState for Android (com.geekcorp.diskstate) is provided by Geekcorp Software.

Summary

DiskState has no ads, analytics, telemetry SDKs, in-app purchases or account. Local analysis runs on your device. Geekcorp does not automatically receive your files, scan results, app inventory or server passwords, and operates no file-storage service.

Files and apps

DiskState reads metadata in accessible shared storage or folders you authorize. Previews and user-started duplicate checks read file contents. Copies read, write and verify files; changes and deletion happen at your request. Protected app and system data remain inaccessible.

App inventory access follows disclosure and your choice to show apps. Optional Usage Access supplies app/data/cache sizes, not app-activity history. Scans may check known trash-owning apps and local restore records. Analysis and inventories stay in memory; Android handles app-management confirmations.

Storage, user-ID and version details support display, compatibility and local license acknowledgement. DiskState uses no advertising identifiers or profiles.

Network transfers

Optional SMB operations send credentials, file metadata and necessary contents to your chosen server, not through Geekcorp. Copies can include any selected file type; folder copies include hidden files and subfolders even when not displayed.

Server administrators control access, logs, backups, retention and deletion. Your OS/network may resolve names and keep connection logs. Document providers may use their own cloud/network services under their own policies and permissions.

Copies you start can continue in the background, with in-app progress and Stop controls and notifications when permitted. DiskState does not start automatic backups or telemetry.

Local records

DiskState keeps preferences, selected locations, folder grants, operation receipts and license acknowledgements. Receipts and diagnostic logs may include file paths, server locations, status and errors. Hiding results may leave receipts. License acknowledgements are local, not sent to Geekcorp; logs are not uploaded automatically.

Saving SMB connections is optional. Settings and passwords use app-private storage encrypted with AES-GCM and an Android Keystore key. Unsaved credentials stay session-only.

Security

SMB signing is required. SMB3 encryption is required by default; connections fail if required encryption is unavailable. You can disable that requirement for compatible servers, so not every connection is encrypted. Signing is not encryption. Use trusted networks or a protected VPN and retain encryption when possible.

App backup and data extraction are disabled; connection and acknowledgement records are excluded from backup. Copied files are not automatically encrypted at rest; that depends on their device, provider or server. No system guarantees absolute security.

Your controls and data removal

You can stop operations, disconnect, delete saved connections, change folder access and revoke permissions in Android settings. Removing a connection does not delete server files.

In-memory analysis ends with the app process. Private records and credentials may remain until replaced, removed where controls exist, or cleared through Android's app-data controls or uninstalling.

Clearing app data or uninstalling does not erase original files or completed/partial copies on shared storage, providers or servers. Manage these separately; server logs/backups may remain. There is no account or hosted store to delete, and Geekcorp cannot access or erase your private server.

Other apps and services

Opening a file may give its viewer access. Browsers and email apps handle external links and support. Android, Google Play, device makers, providers and servers have their own privacy practices; platform-managed installation or crash information is separate from a DiskState telemetry SDK.

Support and policy updates

We receive the contact details, messages and attachments you send, use them for support, and retain correspondence as needed for that purpose and legal duties. We do not sell personal information or use your files for advertising. Do not send passwords or unnecessary private files.

DiskState is not designed for children. This policy covers the Android app, not the website or third-party services. We update it when data practices change. For privacy or data requests, contact support.
