When you click on a volume from the main window, you will be presented with a new window. The new window shows all the folders on the volume sorted by size, quick volume information, a pie chart over folders and a button row at the bottom. A file count per folder is given by a number in parantheses after the folder name. Note: This number may be missing for long folder names by design.
From this window, you can:
- Review the folder usage to find the largest space-hogging folders.
- Export this analysis report to e.g. the clipboard, the printer or as a screenshot. If you send the report to the printer or take a screenshot, the pie chart will included on your print-out.
- Generate screenshot and textual report automatically every hour. Click on the Export button to activate this feature.
- Start ScanDisk or Disk Administrator (Disk Management for Windows XP or newer OS) to check the volume for errors and an partition overview. Please note that you can also customize which applications to run here.
- Start DiskState's disk cleaning utility. This will scan the current volume for temporary files to be deleted by your command. By default, DiskState only moves deleted files to a zip file as backup.
- Start DiskState's duplicate files finder. This will open a window for you to select volumes and folders to be included in a search.
- Start Windows' Defragmenter, which aligns data on your volume for faster file access. Under Windows Vista/XP/2K/NT, DiskState will suggest PerfectDisk from Raxco Software if installed. In other flavors of Windows, DiskState will suggest the build-in defragmenter if available. Please note that you can also customize which applications to run here.
- Start DiskState's report utility. Here you can create new reports, print and view reports of your choice.
- Refresh the view.
- Close the Volume Analysis window.
